Protective Structures

The flexibility of Reinforced Earth® structures allows them to perform excellently under earthquake loading, as shown during tests by the Japanese National Railway. Reinforced Earth® structures are also used to stabilise landslip areas and in the construction of barricades to protect against avalanches.

The Australian military has conducted tests on Reinforced Earth® structures at 10m distance with 36 x 500kg bombs at Woomera, South Australia. Reinforced Earth® proved an effective protective material compared to other structures, and Reinforced Earth® bunkers, barriers and ammunition igloos are today used to protect critical military facilities Austalia wide.
