Vietnam - A great success

By John Ritchie

Aug 2012

Nui Phao Mine TerraMet® Dump Wall in Vietnam has been a great success with both shipment and construction, project manager Florent Sygall has happily reported. Dennis Bernecker who was the construction supervisor on the project is now flying back to UHG Mines in Mongolia with another TerraClass dump wall starting up there.

Adaro Mine in Indonesia is also about to start the construction of two bridges. Tom Fitzpatrick is very excited about flying to Indonesia to supervise construction of the project and we know he'll be doing them a great service. Good luck Tom!

We've also started installing facing panels on another wall along the Great Western Hwy in Bullaburra, continuing our long tradition of improving the roadway through the glorious Blue Mountains.

The Urban Superway Alliance has awarded the Reinforced Earth Company the design and supply of 3600sqm of panel walls for the South Road Superway project in South Australia.  This includes textured Terratilt®/TerraPlus® panels (Reckli® Durance) with a charcoal oxide colouring.

The South Road is the only continuous link between Adelaide’s northern and southern suburbs, forming the gateway that connects Adelaide’s major transport hub.
The Alliance will deliver a new 4.8 kilometer highway corridor, including 2.8 kilometers of elevated roadway, linking the Port River Expressway to Regency Road north of Adelaide.  The project is South Australia’s largest single investment in a road project to date.

M2 Motorway upgrade in the fastlane.

By Sheree Foley

Apr 2012

An alliance between Trans-urban Group and Leighton Contractors to upgrade the existing Hills M2 Motorway has awarded Reinforced Earth Australia with the design and supply of approximately 14-18,000m² of Reinforced Earth™ -Terraplus® retaining walls.  This project incorporates the widening of existing sections of the roadway from two to three lanes and the addition of new access ramps.

A challenge of this project is to ensure that the Reinforced Earth walls retain the same look as the existing walls that were built in the 1990’s by the then Austress Freyssinet, whilst also completing the project within a very short timeframe.  Manufacture of the concrete panels at our Tuggerah precast facility commenced in December 2010 and will continue for 15-18 months.  This is a major road project located in North West Sydney, Australia.
