Local Representation by RECO for 2014

It's the start of a new year and The Reinforced Earth Company (RECO) is ever finding new ways to get closer to you our customers by providing local representation and efficient service.   With the setting up last year of the Company's Western Region - under the care of Riccardo Musella in Perth - and the Northern Region with Alex Jahshan now permanently based in Brisbane, the Eastern Region will fall under the responsibility of Fahad Siddiqui (pictured right onsite at M2 Motorway Sydney).   Fahad will manage NSW and for the time being Victoria and South Australia as part of his geographical portfolio.   Fahad can be contacted on 02 9910 9926.

In other news, RECO was awarded the design and supply of TerraClass® ramp walls for the Kookaburra Street Flyover in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, with Hawkins Infrastructure, New Zealand.   The large scale of this flyover (model pictured below) is a first for Papua New Guinea and a first for any Pacific Island nation.   The flyover and carriageway is a vital conduit from the Jacksons Airport to Waigani which supports many hotels, businesses, PNG Government departments and international embassies.   The entire project value is just over K160 million, and contract completion will be circa 109 weeks.   RECO is delighted to be returning to PNG to take part is this valuable infrastructure project.

Completion of Mining Area C Haul Road Tunnel

In December the Reinforced Earth Company (RECO) completed the design, manufacture and erection of TechSpan® arches for BHP's Mining Area C Haul Road Tunnel (pictured during construction on the right) for our client Decmil Australia.   In a first for us, RECO took on all parts of the scope - design, manufacture, delivery and erection of the arch.   This ensured a smooth and efficient process that the client appreciated.

Pictured below is the RECO team, led by Riccardo Musella & Diarmuid Moriarty, on site at Mining Area C in WA.

This 44m haul road tunnel  in the Pilbara region of West Australia is identical to another built for BHP at Packsaddle Mine (pictured below) which was supplied by RECO approximately three years ago.

Gateway WA Project in Perth

October has seen the award of the company's most significant project in some time with up to 25,000 sqm of full height TerraTilt® retaining wall being awarded to The Reinforced Earth Company by the Gateway Alliance on the Gateway WA project in Perth. This billion dollar project is Perth's biggest ever infrastructure project and the Reinforced Earth® component will be managed by the West Australian regional team headed by Riccardo Musella and cast at our Landsdale precast facility, north of Perth.

To celebrate the successful completion of the Reinforced Earth® walls on John Holland's Glenfield to Leppington rail project in Sydney, the RECO Operations team headed by Fahad Siddiqui held a barbecue on site for the construction team.   NSW's newest rail infrastructure will help facilitate growth in South West Sydney and RECO has been proud to play a role.   RECO has a strong working relationship with John Holland all over the country and an informal barbecue on completion of works is one small way in which we strive to get to know our clients better.   Another barbecue is planned in early November with Seymour Whyte at Bullaburra East in the Blue Mountains.

The year is now starting to wind down however RECO is optimistic that infrastructure work is set to increase over coming months and expects a strong start to 2014.

Exhibitions in Mongolia and Indonesia

In September the Reinforced Earth Company (RECO) took another opportunity to exhibit at the 2nd International Mining & Minerals Recovery Exhibition in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.   This together with our presence at Mining Indonesia in Jakarta, in the same month, reinforces our commitment to service the mining industry worldwide and in the remotest of locations.

RECO is currently in the process of delivering a 5,000 sqm, 35m high, TerraMet® wall to the Tsagaan Suvargo copper mine in the province of Dornogobi, Mongolia.   Construction is due to commence shortly.   This project represents the third Reinforced Earth® structure that RECO Australia has supplied to Mongolia.   These, together with other recent projects delivered to Indonesia and Vietnam demonstrate that our capabilities know no geographic bounds.

In late September, RECO's Alex Jahshan (pictured)  took up his new role as Regional Manager North based at the Sumner precast facility, just south of Brisbane.   Alex will be responsible for the business development, precast and operations for QLD and NT and can be contacted on 0427 777 535.
