Reinforced Earth® events to help celebrate our 50th Anniversary!

Reinforced Earth® Australia will be running a series of events and seminars to celebrate our 50^th Anniversary of Reinforced Earth® and to introduce our expanding product range including Geomega® and country wide precast capability.

The first event will commence on Monday 6 May 2013 from 9:30am-11:30am at the Engineers Australia Auditorium, 447 Upper Edward Street Brisbane. Morning tea will be provided.  

Reinforced Earth’s® next event will be held at our brand new precast yard in Landsdale, Perth, WA on Friday 17 May at 3:00pm.   Please come along and take a look at our new precast yard, see how everything works and help celebrate Reinforced Earth’s® 50^th Anniversary.  We’ll finish off with a relaxing barbecue and drinks.

Reinforced Earth’s® Melbourne information seminar will be held on Tuesday 4 June 2013 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at the Engineers Australia Rooms A&B, 21 Bedford Street, North Melbourne. Drinks and finger food will be provided.

Reinforced Earth’s® Sydney information seminar will be held on Tuesday 16 July 2013 from 9:30am-11:30am at the Engineers Australia Auditorium, 8 Thomas St, Chatswood.  Morning tea will be provided.  

Another Great Western Highway Win

The Reinforced Earth Company (RECO) has been awarded the design and supply of 1297sqm of TerraClass® Reinforced Earth® walls on the Great Western Highway upgrade – Bullaburra East in NSW with Seymour Whyte.

As part of the Great Western Highway upgrade, Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is widening the existing two lane highway to a four lane divided highway from west of Ridge Street, Lawson to 400m west of Genevieve Road, Bullaburra.    

Construction of the Reinforced Earth® walls will commence in June 2013.  

Also, this month, 1500sqm of TerraPlus® walls for two bridges on the Bega Bypass in southern New South Wales has been completed. Construction of these walls commenced in October 2012 and were completed this month - February 2013. The panels for this project were supplied by our own precast facility in Albury.

February 2013 also saw the grand opening of RECO’s new precast yard in Brisbane, Queensland. In conjunction with this, Bob Porter has taken up a permanent role as RECO’s new Business Development Manager with a focus on pre-casting, thus ensuring all of our customers needs and expectations are met when it comes to pre-casting.

A great start to the year

Although the year has only just begun, The Reinforced Earth Company (RECO) are working at a frenetic pace to keep up with demand.

RECO have been awarded the design and supply of 2000sqm of TerraPlus® plus bridge abutment walls on the Great Northern Highway in WA with Macmahon Contractors. The TerraPlus® Plus panels are 2.25m x 2.25m, slightly larger than the 2m x 2m TerraPlus® panels which provides some additional design and construction efficiencies.

The Great Northern Highway is the most important transport link between Perth and the Kimberley Region and is the only sealed road connecting Perth with the Northern Territory.  

Reinforced Earth’s Western Region Business Development Manager, Riccardo Musella said RECO is continuing to deliver important infrastructure in Western Australia that will benefit all road users and local communities.  

“The Great Northern Highway project further builds on Reinforced Earth’s relationship with Macmahon Contractors and the successful recent experience at Cape Lambert”, Mr Musella said.

Also, this month, eighteen thousand square metres of TerraPlus® abutment walls for the M2 Motorway upgrade were completed. This is a major road project (located in North West Sydney, Australia) for The Roads and Traffic Authority and The Reinforced Earth Company. The project incorporated the widening of existing sections of the roadway from two to three lanes and required the production of wall facing panels that replicated the existing infrastructure.

2013 will mark the 50 year anniversary of Henri Vidal’s registration of the Reinforced Earth® patent. Stay tuned to find out about upcoming events around Australia to mark this occasion – including a series of regional seminars.

Another International Win

The Reinforced Earth Company has been engaged by MAK and Worley Parsons to design and supply a 4891sqm TerraMet® dump wall to the Tsagaan Suvarga Copper Mine in Mongolia.  Congratulations to the Reinforced Earth Sales team for securing this great project.

Two TerraPlus® abutment walls for the Gracemere Industrial Access project in Queensland were completed this month. The project is located approximately 9km west of Rockhampton along the Capricorn Highway and begins at the intersection of Malchi Nine Mile Road.

Great fun was had by all at the recent Reinforced Earth, Freyssinet and Menard Christmas party aboard the Starship in Darling Harbour.  Not only did we get to cruise around and see the magnificent sights of the Sydney Harbour, but we also launched some new dance moves on the ship’s dance floor!
