Solomon Mine TerraMet® dump wall has been completed

By Sheree Foley

Sep 2012

The Reinforced Earth Company was engaged by AECOM to design and supply a 16.5M High (4635sqm) TerraMet® dump wall to Solomon Mine.  Located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, it is part of Fortescue Metal Group’s major expansion in the Pilbara.

The company’s three hub strategy will see them own three major iron ore operations in close proximity and work off centralised infrastructure. Solomon Mine is expected to start producing ore in late 2012 and will ramp up to 60 million tonnes by June 2013.

Construction of the Reinforced Earth® dump wall commenced in 2011 and was completed in June 2012.

Vietnam - A great success

Nui Phao Mine TerraMet® Dump Wall in Vietnam has been a great success with both shipment and construction, project manager Florent Sygall has happily reported. Dennis Bernecker who was the construction supervisor on the project is now flying back to UHG Mines in Mongolia with another TerraClass dump wall starting up there.

Adaro Mine in Indonesia is also about to start the construction of two bridges. Tom Fitzpatrick is very excited about flying to Indonesia to supervise construction of the project and we know he'll be doing them a great service. Good luck Tom!

We've also started installing facing panels on another wall along the Great Western Hwy in Bullaburra, continuing our long tradition of improving the roadway through the glorious Blue Mountains.
