Cross River Rail, Queensland:
TerraTilt® and TerraPlus® mechanically stablised earth (MSE) walls support Queensland’s mega rail project, Cross River Rail. The Reinforced Earth Company Australia & New Zealand is delighted to announce our important contribution to the transformational Cross River Rail project in Queensland, a new 10.2km rail line that includes 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and the CBD; with four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street. The project will also deliver a new above-ground station at Exhibition, a rebuild for seven stations between Dutton Park and Salisbury; construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast; construction of two new train stabling facilities and installation of a new world-class signalling system. As part of the project, Reinforced Earth supplied TerraTilt® and TerraPlus® precast mechanically stablised earth walls and various precast items to support the work of the project’s twin Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM), which took on the mighty role of excavating the Cross River Rail’s twin tunnels. TerraTilt® is a full-height rectangular, precast concrete faced Reinforced Earth retaining wall system, while the TerraPlus® modular facing panels are available in square or rectangular formats at various sizes. These precast mechanically stabilised earth wall systems combine selected granular, engineered backfill with steel tensile reinforcements and a modular facing system. This unrivalled combination creates a durable, mass gravity retaining wall capable of supporting its own weight, together with very high dead and live loads imposed by associated structures and vehicles.
